For walkers and nature lovers, for families, active people and those looking to simply enjoy, the Belchen Black Forest region is an experience for everyone. The 1414m high, majestic Belchen mountain is a particular attraction, known to offer some of the most beautiful mountain views in the Southern Black Forest. From the Belchen cable car valley station you can easily reach the Belchen hut without a car. A 360° panoramic view with amazing views of the Alps awaits visitors. The view sweeps from the Zugspitze across the sparkling white Swiss mountain tops to Montblanc, over to the Vosges mountains in Alsace, and across the Rhine valley to the Feldberg – everything seems close enough to touch.

A total of nine discovery paths invite you to learn about the geology, flora and fauna of the Belchen Black Forest region. Bergbaupfad (mining path) – luck and misfortune lie close together in the mining industry Wiesengletscher (meadow glacier) – following the trace of one of the largest glaciers of the Black Forest ice age. Weidbuchen (grazed beech trees) – bizarre tree formations with an unusual life history Wiedener Kirchweg (Wieden church path) – life in a Black Forest valley before there were proper roads Pfad ins Erdaltertum (Path into the Palaeozoic era) – hot lava, cool depths and large amphibians. Belchen – prominent summit over the forests Otto – the last village shepherd and the hinterwald people. Urwaldpfad (primeval forest path) – nature is left to itself in the Bannwald forest. A tour along the Kneippwanderweg (Kneipp walking route) in Wieden is recommended for health-conscious visitors. Children will find the giant earthworm path at the Belchen, in summer there is a programme of events for the holidays such as treasure hunt in the mine, a visit to the fire station, fishing, pony riding or a tour with the Belchen mountain ranger...
